Cambodia
- Japan is not the first country of choice for migrant workers, so remedy information is not widely shared amount migrant workers.
- Gov working to advance migrant protection by setting a service desk in Japan, etc
Indonesia
- Two government entities handling migration to Japan. TITP by MoM, SSW by BP2MI. Ministerial transition is in progress.
- Active for protection of Indonesian workers overseas (social protection, human rights, etc)
Viet Nam
- Largest migrant sending country for Japan. Strong Gov leadership for quality assurance and labour protection.
- Advanced initiative on fair and ethical recruitment.
More learnings
- Lengthy state-based remedy process, Expensive judiciary process
- Not sufficient information sources in Local Languages
- Prevalence of Unlicenced agents and brokers
- Vulnerability and more risks in Rural Areas
- Need transparency and regulations in Recruitment Fees
- Limited Support by Local NGOs because Japan is not the most common destination
